Digitizing a patient’s anatomy with an optical scanner often requires placing them in a position that suits the device rather than the biomechanical requirements. Furthermore, the patient must remain immobilized for at least a minute, during which no manual foot corrections can be made. Also, several scanning attempts are frequently needed, leaving CPOs with low confidence in the final scan’s quality.
🎯 We believe that when designing an AFO, CPOs should focus purely on biomechanics not scanner limitations.
We recently demonstrated this approach during our visit at ITOP SpA Officine Ortopediche in Italy, where we digitized the anatomy of seven pediatric patients. Each scan took only a few seconds and was captured in the correctly aligned position. Whether the patient is in a wheelchair, standing, or lying down, with or without spasticity, we can capture their anatomy just like a traditional plaster cast but in seconds, completely cleanly, and fully digitally.

🙏 A big thank you to Guerrino Rosellini and Marco Mannisi for the invitation but also to Renato Boscacci, Francesco Rocca and their colleagues for the work and time they have taken to support our Head of R&D, Corentin Féry.
